As a gerontologist (that means I studied getting old and turned it into a profession!!) I love hearing stories that exemplify how our grandparents, parents and even elderly strangers can often pass on their knowledge in the most simple terms - or by example. . . .
As a gerontologist (that means I studied getting old and turned it into a profession!!) I love hearing stories that exemplify how our grandparents, parents and even elderly strangers can often pass on their knowledge in the most simple terms - or by example.
Honestly, I gained my profession simply because I loved older people all of my life - - Especially my Great Aunt Grayce, Grandma Ethel, and Grandpa Flowers. I did not get nearly enough time with them on this planet, and I almost wish I could go back and be born ten years earlier - because I'm certain some of what they had to say? I missed being to busy being too young to listen...you know how that goes. I've been an Elder Orphan for over 14 years now - during that time my own parents have reached their 70's and I find I look at them differently now, I hold on to the moments I have with them, I put it to detailed memory in hopes that when they are gone, the memories will be cememted in firmly. I hope so anyway. So, if you are like minded and want to share a special memory or a day that you remember with someone who was elderly? This is your home. Welcome and enjoy. This group is founded by Anna G, a geriatric social worker, gerontologist, a nursing home administrator, wife, mother, daughter, piano player, singer, sentimentalist, and cat rescuer. So if you have a special moment to share in this venue, please put it here. I'd be honored. Sincerely, Anna G. Vanwinkle Group Stats
